CAPITAL CREDITS AND ESTATES BROCHURE

Tasked with creating an informational brochure on a complicated topic, this project tested my skills as a researcher and technical writer. The brochure was created for the family of deceased members who would like to collect any remaining capital credits left in their balance.

The main goals of this brochure were to explain:

  • What capital credits are

  • Why members receive capital credits

  • How the user can receive their deceased family member’s remaining capital credits

While I worked alone on the project in terms of creating the document, I collaborated with many different people for various tasks throughout the development process. Examples include many interviews with subject matter experts, proofing and editing meetings with co-workers, and usability tests with a variety of users. In the brochure, I included a checklist of all the documents the family needs to bring into Shelby Electric Cooperative’s headquarters to claim their late family member’s capital credits. I also used icons to explain capital credits. These two elements increased readability and made complicated information more easily digestible.

The brochure will be given to anyone that calls or visits the Shelby Electric Cooperative, querying about capital credits. It is also available online for download.

Software used:

  • Adobe Illustrator

  • Adobe InDesign
