PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

November 2020 - Present

EDITOR

Abstrakt Marketing Group

Every day, I edit and proofread web and social content, email marketing campaigns, and marketing collateral for structure, grammar, accuracy, and SEO best practices. By collaborating with writers, designers, project managers, and more, I'm able to facilitate the creation of engaging, informational content that increases business for our clients. Much of my current position includes quality assurance, and we are currently in the process of transitioning the title and responsibilities of this role to Quality Assurance Editor.

August 2019 - May 2020

STUDENT DEVELOPMENT GRADUATE ASSISTANT

Missouri State University

As a graduate assistant at Missouri State University, I acted as a bridge between students and staff by answering questions or appropriately connecting them with the correct people. I also edited and provided resources to students in coordination with the on-campus Writing Center. Due to COVID-19, I, along with my supervisors and teammates, adapted to virtual teamwork and work management during the last 2.5 months of my contract.

June 2019 - January 2020

MISSION DEVELOPMENT INTERN

Fellowship of Catholic University Students (FOCUS)

Interning for a nonprofit organization put me in direct contact with sponsors and benefactors, communicating via email, phone, and in-person. When not communicating with them directly, I was creating documentation and content that would eventually be used to fundraise and further relationships by working with team members across the country. I created spotlights to be used in benefactor documentation, updated the organization’s conference website, and more.

May 2016 - August 2018 (Seasonal)

MEMBER SERVICES INTERN

Shelby Electric Cooperative

At SEC, I was able to marry my love for writing and design by creating member and employee-facing documentation, such as instructional booklets, new member brochures, infographics for newsletters and social media, press releases, and more. I also spearheaded the effort to overhaul a subsidiary of the cooperative while also writing and editing content for the company’s main website. In addition, my technical expertise was challenged when I performed research, interviewed subject matter experts, and conducted usability testing for technical materials.

June 2013 - May 2018 (Seasonal)

CO-OWNER/MANAGER

Hula Ice

When I was 16, I created a seasonal small shave ice business in my hometown. Every summer until my senior year, I would return home to run the business while also interning with a local cooperative. As the owner, I developed and implemented annual marketing efforts, such as maintaining social media platforms, developing weekly specials, and promoting offers and giveaways. Being a community-driven business, Hula Ice only hired local high schoolers each summer and organized community fundraisers each year.
